Dick Clarke wins LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD at Sustainability Awards

The 2023 Sustainability Award Winners have just been announced!

Envirotecture are honoured to our announce that Envirotecture’s founder and director Dick Clarke won a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD! Whilst there’s still a lot of life left in this lad, it’s a true testament to the incredible work he’s done so far, and huge impact he’s had in the world of Sustainable Design over the years. We’re looking forward to seeing the impact of his future achievements too!

This “Lifetime Achievement” award is to recognise: A person who has over their career, shown exemplary efforts in advancing the progression of the sustainable built environment in Australia.

In Dick’s words:

…27 years ago I started Envirotecture. I did my first passive solar design job in 1978. These are just numbers now but feel so recent – which means the next 27 years will go by in a blink, and yet there is so much to be done to rescue this blue planet and the people who cling to its crust.

The Sustainability Awards jury announced:

“Dick Clarke has influenced sustainable design and construction across the nation for decades. Mostly widely known as an accredited building designer he has played many roles over the years. Dick has been a regular judge on various industry design awards, such as the Sustainability Awards, BPN Sustainability Awards, AWA (Australian Window Association) Design Awards and the Clean Energy Council awards. He was Director of Sustainability, and Past President of the NSW Chapter, of Building Designers Australia (BDA). He is a Past President and Board Member of the Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA). He has represented BDAA on the NatHERS to AccuRate upgrade (Technical Advisory) committee, and BASIX Reference Group in NSW. Dick is a founding author and editor of the acclaimed Your Home series, recently released in its sixth 20-year anniversary edition. He also edited the sort after book for designers, builders, and homeowners, How to Rethink Building Materials.“

This list only scratches the surface of the impact he’s had – including being very involved with the Alternative Technology Association, a regular contributor to Renew and Sanctuary Magazines, and currently being the chair of the Renew board, amongst other things!

Congratulations Dick from the rest of the team here at Envirotecture – we’re very proud of you and hope you can bask in the glow of this accolade!
