The new Centre is a place where the community can meet and learn from many programs that take place within the building. The design uses rainwater harvesting and all seven principals of passive solar design: orientation, zoning, thermal mass, shading, insulation, ventilation and glazing, to reduce its energy demands. An important part of the church’s brief was to create an outdoor social space, as well as a playground for after school care. Thus a large deck, landscaped garden and lawn were incorporated into the design ensuring a well integrated flow from inside to outside.
